Legal Decisions Regarding Work-Life Expectancy in a Personal Injury Analysis: Do Economists and Vocational Experts Have Anything to Offer?
This paper considers the roles of vocational and economic experts in sixteen legal decisions regarding two types of situations: One situation involves claims that a plaintiff would have worked longer than as shown in standard Markov process statistical work-life expectancy tables; The other situation involves uses and challenges to work-life expectancy tables developed by Gamboa and Gibson, most recently in 2015, using the LPE methodology, particularly with respect to claims that a plaintiffs work-life expectancy has been shortened by the plaintiffs injury.
