Fikri Mülkiyet Haklarının Ekonomik Büyüme Üzerindeki Etkisi: BRICS-T Ülkeleri

It is believed that the protection of intellectual property rights plays an important role in increasing economic growth by encouraging innovation and technological progress. Likewise, a significant part of empirical studies has concluded that the effect of intellectual property rights on economic growth is positive. However, empirical studies are also observed in the literature that increases in intellectual property rights protection have a negative effect on economic growth or have no effect at all. The slowdown in economic growth that developed after the 2008 financial crisis continues to have an effect today. In parallel with these results, it is very important to determine the effect of intellectual property rights on economic growth in the BRICS-T country group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and Turkey). In the study, the long-term effects of intellectual property rights on economic growth between 2007 and 2022 for BRICS-T economies were examined using panel cointegration analysis. The results indicate that a 1% increase in the protection of intellectual property rights in the BRICS-T group of countries increases economic growth by 0.13%. These findings reveal that the protection of intellectual property rights plays a very important role in increasing the economic growth of the BRICS-T countries.
