Depremin Psikiyatri Hasta ve Yakınları Üzerinde Yarattığı Psikososyal Sorunlara Yönelik Bir İnceleme

This study was conducted to examine the effects of the earthquake on the relatives of psychiatric patients. As a result of the literature review, it was determined that psychiatric patients experience emotions such as depression, hopelessness, anger and disappointment. Additionally, the increase in suicide after the earthquake is also an important finding. In addition, unemployment and economic difficulties due to migration are also issues that need to be emphasized. No study was found regarding patient relatives. However, it is thought that the effects of the care role, along with the effects of the earthquake, will lead to feelings such as feeling alone, despair, helplessness and guilt in the individual. It is important to apply approaches such as psychological first aid in the short term and psychoeducation and therapy in the long term for all these psychosocial problems. It is important to evacuate patients and their relatives to a safe area after the earthquake. Evacuations that occur quickly and safely establish a sense of trust in individuals and prevent the exacerbation of psychiatric symptoms. Professionals should be trained on psychosocial approaches after the earthquake. The application of approaches is important in the protection and development of community mental health.
