Optimising Conjugate Transfer in Porous Structures: The Role of Flow Instabilities and Structural Defects
This study explores the impact of structural defects on the stability and conjugate transfer in a porous structure composed of square cylinders. Through global instability analysis, we find that periodic vacancy defects reduce the critical Reynolds number by approximately 7%, enhancing flow instabilities and thus mixing. The results demonstrate that carefully designed defects can effectively modify flow stability.
