Health Literacy: Implications for Case Managers
Health literacy is a dynamic concept with varying health implications. Because basic literacy lays the foundation for levels of health literacy proficiency, its relevance ranges from the individual level to the societal level. Age and education are some essential markers to investigate, but while the current status of health literacy is critical data for case managers to include in their line of work, it is important to explore the conceptualization of health literacy. Although with a young history, health literacy has undergone notable changes and continues in a state of fluidity. Case managers are urged to recognize the implications of health literacy and adopt meaningful measures in order to promote successful outcomes
