In Case You Haven't Heard…
Zohran Mamdani won last week's election to be Mayor of New York City, the home of two safe injection sites run by OnPoint. In campaign talks, Mamdani, a far‐left progressive, had talked about wanting to increase the number of safe injection sites. However, later in the campaign, he rescinded that promise, agreeing with his political opponent Andrew Cuomo that the number should remain the same. Many other changes may be coming, including promises of free universal childcare and free bus transportation. Mamdani brought out young voters. At age 34, he is the youngest and least experienced mayor the city has ever had. In other news, many elections saw a swing from red to blue, with moderate Democrat governors elected in New Jersey and Virginia, widely seen as a rebuke to President Trump — who was vociferously opposed to Mamdani and had supported Cuomo in New York. The shift also took place in counties in many other states. Stay tuned.
