An Anticorrosion Lubricating Emulsion Based on the Co-Stabilization of Functionalized Ti 3 C 2 T X MXene and Tween 80

The two-dimensional nano MXenes have unique microstructures and physicochemical properties, showing great potential in enhancing or replacing traditional metal processing lubricants. Here, a stable oil-in-water emulsion was constructed by coassembling Ti3C2TX MXene modified with phosphonic acid containing C10 alkyl chain and Tween 80 at the oil-water interface. The emulsion exhibits efficient friction-reducing and antiwear performance as well as corrosion resistance. The effect originates from the formation of a physical adsorption film and tribochemical reaction film stabilized by the interlocking of long carbon chains on the friction interface. This study provides a model of "material functionalization-interface synergy" for developing metal processing lubricants.
