Undifferentiated Embryonal Sarcoma of the Liver: Report of Two Cases and Literature Review
Abstract Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver is a rare tumor of mesenchymal origin, representing about 9 to 15% of pediatric hepatic tumors. Usually diagnosed in children between 6 and 10 years of age, it has no specific clinical or laboratory features. Its diagnosis is usually delayed due to nonspecific symptoms, leading to poorer outcomes. Early diagnosis is key to increasing the chances of long-term survival. We report two cases of undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma in children presenting with hemoperitoneum from spontaneous rupture of the tumor.
