Enhancing ESG Reporting Through Process Mining: A Taxonomy of ESG Events

The paper presents a novel approach to bridge ESG reporting and process mining through a structured taxonomy of ESG events. With sustainability becoming a central aspect of business operations, our approach integrates multimodal data, e.g., including time-series sensor logs, textual information, images, and video, with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This integration enables automated, data-driven tracking and analysis of ESG performance, addressing the challenges posed by heterogeneous data sources and complex regulatory requirements. Validation via a hypothetical manufacturing process model demonstrates the taxonomy’s potential to streamline ESG reporting while maintaining conformity with sustainability regulations.
