Centrality-based approach to finding key actors in an organizational social network

The paper focuses on the problem of finding key players in an organizational social network based on anonymized email communication between people employed in a middle-sized public organization located in Poland. To solve the problem, several centrality measures have been suggested and tested. The experimental part covers different variants of the network, referring to the intensity of the communication between employees and including unweighted and weighted cases. The results of the experiment allow one to compare it with the real structure of the organization. It also allows one to assess the usefulness of different centrality measures in the process of detecting key actors in a real organization.
