Reverse engineering as a tool of protection of cultural heritage. A case study
The article presents the possibility of using reverse engineering in the protection of cultural heritage. As an example, the stages of reconstructing a destroyed artifact - the PTR Szołochow anti-tank rifle - are presented. The work carried out at the Koszalin University of Technology included scanning the object using EinScan H2 device, preparing a computer model based on the metal parts of the weapon and printing the missing elements using the Fused Deposition Modeling process. Due to the size of the artifact, the Stratasys F770 printer was used for 3D printing. Acrylic Styrene Acrylonitrile filament was chosen because of high strength and resistance to ultraviolet radiation of the material.
