Adaptation of HVAC systems to improve the energy efficiency of smart buildings
The digitalization of the building sector enhances energy efficiency, automation, and maintenance. The digitization of building data is essential for Building Management Systems (BMS), enabling optimized monitoring and control of systems such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), as well as lighting and security. This paper analyzes ontologies in smart buildings, particularly for HVAC optimization. We propose SEBAO, a new ontology built upon SAREF4BLDG. Furthermore, the proposed framework introduces a novel integration with Elasticsearch for intelligent data indexing and retrieval, and incorporates semantic web services to enhance interoperability and dynamic service discovery. Our framework aims to support adaptive HVAC control for improved energy performance in smart buildings.
