Recommendations for value creation, sustainability and responsibility in land-use management
The study investigates the potential of integrating value creation, sustainability, and responsibility in land-use management. The author used a simple but well-established method of critical, attentive observation which offers an updated information about the state of land-use management. This method was complemented by information from other sources, juxtaposed and linked to draw indicative recommendations for policy practice. Emphasizing the challenges posed by urbanization, resource constraints, and climate change, this study proposes a conceptual model of sustainable, responsible, value-based land-use management. The proposed recommendations of value-based, sustainable and responsible land-use management may be applicable in solving numerous, accumulating problems in land-use management, such as: land-use conflicts; irrational, unsustainable management of land as a strategic, extremely valuable, limited material resource; lack of responsibility, assigned to specific persons, for land-use decisions and their consequences (practical, measurable, commensurate, effective, required, personal, material); lack of land-use planning objectives (in some countries as Poland and Bulgaria).
