Beyond the Screen: The MBTI Personality Impact on MMORPG DOFUS Gameplay Dynamics
This study investigates the correlation between Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality types and player behaviors in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) DOFUS. By analyzing game logs from 222 participants, the research aims to determine how personality traits influence in-game behaviors and choices. We employ a layered analytical approach to assess the validity of these correlations across different levels of granularity. Results indicate that while some slight tendencies in player engagement and class preferences were observed, the overall impact of MBTI traits on gaming behavior is minimal. Significant variability and individual differences among players suggest that MBTI personality types do not provide a strong or consistent framework for predicting player behaviors in DOFUS. The findings highlight the complexity of player behavior, influenced by a multitude of factors beyond personality type, including cultural context and individual experiences. This research contributes to the understanding of personality in gaming contexts and offers insights for game designers seeking to create more personalized and engaging experiences.
