In silico enlightening of gliomas differences, with a special focus on secondary glioblastoma
There are different types of gliomas and the survival rate can be very different depending on the type. Notably, a low-grade glioma, which is a less aggressive form, can undergo transformation into secondary glioblastoma, a significantly more aggressive form. This study aims to identify the genes that distinguish between the different types of gliomas, with a particular focus on secondary glioblastoma, as well as the molecular functions that may be implicated. To achieve this, differential expression analyses were conducted on publicly available datasets, followed by enrichment analysis to interpret the results. We constructed networks to enhance the differentiation between secondary glioblastoma, low-grade glioma, and recurrent low-grade glioma. Our results indicate that secondary glioblastoma may not involve a greater number of genes compared to other types, but, these genes are more strategically positioned. Additionally, secondary glioblastoma is linked to a higher number of molecular functions, highlighting its unique characteristics.
