Part 4: Time-domain modeling of the 3-phase interleaved Boost PFC converter for industrial applications under real conditions of supply grid

• Realistic Grid Modeling with Parasitic Elements • Advanced Control System with Dynamic PWM Modulation • Integrated Protection Mechanisms • Comprehensive Time-Domain Simulation in PLECS • Industrial-Grade Performance Metrics In this paper, a detailed study related to design of the simulation model of 3-phase interleaved Boost/PFC converter is presented. For this purpose PLECS software was used. Desing is followed by the step-by-step modelling of individual sub-systems, considering the highest possible level of physical interpretation. The main building blocks of the simulation model are power circuit topology, AC small signal analysis circuitry, control and feedback circuitry, state machine, over-voltage, over-current protections and 3-chanel PWM generator. The aim of the modelling is also a real representation of the operation under specific conditions related to the parameters of the supply grid. Therefore the parasitic inductances and capacitors of supply grid are considered as well during simulation experiments. The results of the analyses are related to the identification of the proper operation of the converter according to control system and protections. The presented design approach aims to provide detailed procedure of simulation modelling of power semiconductor systems in terms of the most realistic operation analysis related to real systems.
