Insights into fintech research in entrepreneurship: Computational projection modeling and trend mapping
Over the past few decades, the intersection between financial technology (fintech) and entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative domain in academic inquiry and real-world application. Yet, a thorough comprehension of its evolving research scene remains fragmented. This study aims to map global research trends and computationally model the scholarly development of fintech in entrepreneurship. Unlike prior bibliometric studies that did not forecast future growth quantitatively, this research provides a holistic bibliometric and computational modeling analysis using a global dataset. Drawing from 461 publication records indexed in Scopus between 1973 and 2024, the study employed Biblioshiny (R), Microsoft Excel, and Python to conduct a multifaceted analysis including main information metrics, annual scientific production, polynomial regression-based forecast projection modeling, trend topics, and thematic mapping. The study reveals a marked surge in publication volume post-2010, with an annual publication projected from 2025 to 2034 (R² = 0.8830; RMSE = 11.70), indicating a strong and sustained scholarly momentum. Trend topics such as fintech, human, finance, entrepreneurship, commerce, China, and investments are also motor themes of the thematic map that could gain traction in the coming years. These findings not only chart the intellectual evolution of the field but also underscore the growing convergence of technological and entrepreneurial imperatives. This research provides foundational insights for academics, policymakers, and innovators seeking to harness fintech’s potential in shaping the entrepreneurial future.
