“Fun Zone”: A PC-Based Arcade Simulator Game Application
Playing digital games has taken place in the human lifestyle in this modern era. Trends in games are growing very fast, and old games such as arcade games are starting to decrease in popularity and availability. This study aims to design and build an arcade simulator game called Fun Zone to introduce arcade games to the younger generations to preserve the arcade genre and experience. The development of this game uses the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC). A requirement gathering was conducted prior to the development stage of the game. The Game Experience Questionnaire (GEQ) survey was used to evaluate the game. The survey was distributed to the beta testers via online forms. The GEQ evaluation includes calculating both the positive and negative aspects for all 3 modules, which are the Core module, In-game Module, and Post-game Module. This calculation produces a positive score with an average value of 3.551 for the core module, 3.692 for the in-game module, and 3.251 for the post-game module. As well as negative aspects with an average value of 2.117 for the core module, 2.292 for the in-game module, and 2.179 for the post-game module from the Fun Zone game application. This research shows that the application of arcade simulator games can increase players’ interest in the arcade genre.
