IoT-Based Monitoring Device for Dual-Bag Fluid Infusion

This research presents an IoT-based controller for a dual-bag fluid infusion system using a peristaltic pump, aimed at improving fluid management and patient care for individual infusion therapy. Built around an ESP32 microcontroller, the system incorporates XKC-Y25 fluid sensors, solenoid valves, and an LCD display for precise operation. The dual-bag setup ensures continuous fluid delivery by automatically switching between bags when one is depleted. Real-time fluid level data is sent to the ThingSpeak platform for remote monitoring and data management. During testing, the system achieved 90% accuracy in fluid detection with XKC-Y25 sensors and 100% reliability in solenoid valve operations for bag switching. The peristaltic pump maintained consistent fluid delivery, demonstrating its precision. While the system shows promise in optimizing fluid administration and reducing healthcare staff workload through automation and remote monitoring for a single patient, further testing is required to validate its long-term performance and address areas such as sensor calibration, pump cooling, and system security. Future enhancements could enable multi-patient monitoring with additional devices and supporting applications, contributing to more efficient infusion technology and improved patient outcomes.
