Development of Calorie Tracking Application, Healthy Menu Recommendation and Exercise to Increase Indonesian People’s Awareness of the Importance of a Healthy Diet and Regular Exercise
Indonesia is facing health challenges in recent years, including high stunting rates, increasing obesity rates, and low levels of physical activity in people’s lives. To overcome these problems, we present SehatIn, a mobile application that integrates computer vision, nutrition tracking, and food recommendations along with exercise activities. SehatIn application aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle among Indonesians. By utilizing Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and the OpenCV library, the food photo scanner feature in the SehatIn app will automatically estimate the calorie and macronutrient content of the food with the photo taken by the user. The app also helps users to search for customized food and exercise recommendations to support a balanced diet and customized physical activity based on the user’s needs. Developed through an SDLC process, the system architecture emphasizes a user-friendly user interface, scalable back-end services, and continuous development and evaluation. An initial evaluation involving 15 users with the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) instrument showed above-average scores on the aspects of attractiveness, clarity, stimulation, and novelty, with the accuracy of the calorie feature rated as "good". These findings indicate acceptance in users’ daily activities, as well as the app’s potential in raising awareness of healthy eating and regular exercise.
