Participative application of the nature-based building blocks (NB3) framework to support upscaling coastal NbS
• Novel methods are essential to bridge the upscaling gap in coastal restoration. • Two participation-driven methods translates the NB 3 Framework into practice. • Participatory Downscaling Approach defines collectively spatial restoration units. • Input-Process-Output model transforms spatial units into analytical profiles. • Coastal Units emerged as scalable landscape solutions across coastal contexts.
