Research on vibration influence range of double-shield TBM construction based on maximum Z vibration level

Double-shield TBMs have been widely employed in subway tunnel construction throughout China, particularly in cities with rock strata such as Qingdao, Chongqing et al. Whether construction vibrations affect residents' daily lives and how to determine their influence range have become pressing concerns. This paper first establishes the fundamental characteristics of double-shield TBM construction vibration through on-site vibration monitoring. Subsequently, the applicability of Z vibration level for evaluating these vibrations is investigated using a frequency weighting method. Finally, the vibration influence ranges in various types of urban areas are obtained based on maximum Z vibration level. The results demonstrate that the Z vibration level can effectively evaluate the impact of construction vibration on human comfort. In addition, the maximum Z vibration level generated by TBM construction ranges from 62.22 dB and 79.63 dB. The research results can provide reference for double-shield TBM design and construction, and it also can provide theoretical support for dealing with construction disputes.
