Signs from a Disappearing World (Around Thomas)
One of the remarkable aspects of Thomas le Solitaire, Blanchot's recently published ‘first’ narrative work, is the environments in which the narration takes place, often projected into a physical and natural dimension: the physical, biological, cosmological elements are not gathered together under the gaze of the narrator but, so to speak, are produced in their occurrence, involving the narrator and the protagonists in their processuality. And, above all, Thomas le Solitaire tells of the night: a night that then found ample space in Blanchot's non-fiction production and that shows the character of keeping united (or disjointed, considering that union and disjunction coincide) the environment-world and the human.
