A Study of Foreign Translation Practices for Chinese Literature Today (2010-2021): A National Institutional Translation Perspective
As an officially sanctioned Chinese journal dedicated to the overseas translation of Chinese literature, Chinese Literature Today represents more than mere linguistic transfer; it serves as a vital medium for constructing China’s external discourse system. From the perspective of “institutional translation”, this article examines how Chinese Literature Today actively shapes the international image of “Chinese literature” and constructs its own literary discourse for a global readership. Through an analysis of the journal’s column configuration, text selection, and the organization and management of its translation processes, the study explores the journal’s role in facilitating Chinese literature’s engagement with and contribution to the world literary narrative.
