Exploring the potential and challenges of E-Governance in Pakistan

As digitalization spreads, governments must implement electronic governance (e-governance) to increase efficiency, transparency, and citizen participation. This study examines Pakistan's e-governance potential and the main obstacles to its acceptance and efficiency. The study uses qualitative interviews and a quantitative survey to gain insights from government officials, policymakers, and the general public. Government officials' interviews reveal infrastructural challenges, cyber security threats, digital literacy gaps, institutional resistance to change, and agency capacity limits in e-governance. The findings show that while people believe e-governance can boost national socio-economic growth, cyber security fears and a lack of knowledge prohibit them from using it.
