An Unusual Cause of Pulmonary Nodules
We report a rare case of pulmonary Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) in a 63-year-old lung transplant recipient presenting with progressive respiratory decline. Initially suspected to have CMV pneumonitis or invasive fungal infection, diagnostic workup revealed pulmonary KS without cutaneous involvement. Despite antifungal and antiviral treatment, the patient’s condition worsened, leading to death. This case highlights the importance of considering neoplastic causes, including KS, in transplant patients with non-resolving pulmonary infiltrates, particularly in the context of prolonged immunosuppression.
