Maternal satisfaction with antenatal care service quality and associated factors among pregnant women in Arba Minch town
S atisfaction is one of the important aspects of health care service as it affects the adherence to medical advice and continuous health-seeking behavior. The level of satisfaction during pregnancy may affect the continuum of care, including the complete antenatal care follow-up. Despite its importance, the attention given by the service providers is not satisfactory. The main objective of this study was to assess the magnitude of maternal satisfaction with antenatal care service quality and associated factors among of pregnant women in Arba Minch town, 2023. An institution-based cross-sectional study design was employed among 1042 pregnant women from January 1st, 2023, to February 28, 2023, in Arba Minch town health facilities. The data were collected using a face-to-face interview at the exit point of the service. Descriptive analysis on each variable and logistic regression to identify the factors that had a significant association with the outcome variable. A total of 1016 pregnant women responded to the questions, making a response rate of 97.5 %. Three-fourths (75 %, 95 % CI (72 %, 78 %) of the pregnant women were satisfied with antenatal care services. Women who had a short birth interval (AOR = 3.19, 95 %CI (2.15, 4.74) and reached health facility within 30 min (AOR = 4.44, 95 % CI (2.30, 8.57)) were significantly associated with women’s satisfaction. Three out of four pregnant women were satisfied with antenatal care service quality. Birth interval and time to reach health facilities were the significant factors associated with satisfaction.
