Measuring outcomes comparing total hip arthroplasty and hemiarthroplasty using oxford hip score in neck of femur fractures in 60–80 year olds – retrospective study
Our findings reveal that both THA and HA have scores that identify individuals with mild to moderate impairment with regards to mobility, regardless of the surgery they underwent following an acute neck of femur fracture. The data, however, did not reveal if there was a change before and after surgery, and the Oxford hip score is based on patient perceptions. THA required a shorter hospital stay but a longer operation. This study can serve as a foundation for future prospective studies with higher sample sizes.
