Cover Feature: Reducing Oxygen Stress and Improving Hydrogen Availability Boosts Microbial Electrosynthesis by Clostridium ljungdahlii (ChemSusChem 21/2025)
The Cover Feature illustrates the highly promising potential of microbial electrosynthesis–a cutting edge approach for producing value added compounds like acetate and ethanolamine from nothing but electric energy and CO2. Using the model microbe Clostridium ljungdahlii and the engineering of advanced electro-bioreactors, F. Harnish and co-workers unlocked unprecedented improvements in process performance and efficiency and thus further paved the way towards sustainable bioproduction.
