On-site correction method of non-orthogonal errors in three-axis magnetic sensors

Due to limitations in materials, processing techniques, and other factors, three-axis magnetic sensors always suffer from three-axis non-orthogonal errors. Traditional calibration methods are dependent on a specific high-precision platform. In order to meet the on-site calibration requirements of three-axis magnetic sensors, this study proposed a non-orthogonal error correction method based on gridded geomagnetic field parameters and U-shaped curve optimization. The numerical simulation reveals that the proposed method has an accuracy close to that of the known geomagnetic field correction method and better than the unknown geomagnetic field correction method. The actual measurement experiment of the magnetic sensor shows that the proposed method achieves an average relative error of 0.0206% for the non-orthogonal error correction. Its accuracy is equivalent to that of known geomagnetic field correction methods. Moreover, the proposed method overcomes the deficiency that the true value of the geomagnetic field must be obtained with necessary accuracy.
