CELLULITIS TO SEPSIS: A RACE AGAINST TIME
A healthy 36-year-old male developed acute lower-limb cellulitis from Burkholderia cepacia, rapidly progressing to septic shock, myocardial infarction, multi-organ failure, and death within 24 hours despite broad-spectrum antibiotics and intensive care. This rare, fatal case highlights community acquisition of MDR pathogens in cellulitis and stresses urgent cultures, early escalation, and ICU transfer.
