Phytotherapy for Chronic Wound Management in the Era of Antibiotic Resistance

Phytotherapy may play a role in managing wounds by promoting healing, preventing infection, and reducing the need for resistant antibiotics. Combining natural agents with traditional treatments presents a novel and integrative pathway to overcome the limitations posed by antibiotic resistance and biofilm-associated chronicity. While current findings are promising, further validation is needed to fully establish their clinical applications.

Abstract

Phytotherapy may play a role in managing wounds by promoting healing, preventing infection, and reducing the need for resistant antibiotics. Combining natural agents with traditional treatments presents a novel and integrative pathway to overcome the limitations posed by antibiotic resistance and biofilm-associated chronicity. While current findings are promising, further validation is needed to fully establish their clinical applications.
