Immune‐mediated polyarthritis and hypercalcaemia secondary to elevated 1,25‐dihydroxycholecalciferol in a dog
Abstract An 11‐year‐old Springer spaniel cross presented for investigation of a 4‐week history of intermittent shifting lameness and a 1‐week history of polyuria, polydipsia and hyporexia. The dog was diagnosed with immune‐mediated polyarthritis and hypercalcaemia secondary to elevated 1,25‐dihydroxycholecalciferol. The immune‐mediated polyarthritis was treated with prednisolone and leflunomide, and the hypercalcaemia also resolved with this treatment. This is the second case report of immune‐mediated polyarthritis and concurrent hypercalcaemia due to hypervitaminosis D in a dog.
