Quantum phase coherent tunneling in a mixed-morphology superlattice heterostructure
Multilayer phase coherence is demonstrated in a mixed-morphology superlattice heterostructure, generalizing the paradigm for superlattice miniband engineering. Thirty years since the original proposal by Tsu, a superlattice has been realized with alternating amorphous ($a\text{\ensuremath{-}}{\mathrm{MoO}}_{3}$) and polycrystalline ($pc\text{\ensuremath{-}}{\mathrm{In}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$) layers, whose high quality exhibits quantum phase coherence across multiple periods of amorphous barriers. Cross-plane phase coherence is quantified via weak localization signatures in magnetic field under the diffusive Fermi-surface model.
