Alterations And Occurrence Of Fluorine In Moderate Dental Fluorosis Enamel
To study the alterations and existence of fluorine in fluorosis enamel compared to that of the normal teeth. Electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) was used to analyze the content of fluorine in enamel of the both teeth. Time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) was employed to analyze the fluorine existence. There were no significant differences of fluorine content in enamel between the moderate dental fluorosis and the normal teeth. The TOF-SIMS images of fluorine, hydroxyl, and calcium were similar, or the image of fluorine is similar to calcium. It’s not suggested that the content of Fluorine in fluorotic enamel is changed by EPMA, and it may be combined with calcium or substitute for hydroxyl ions in apatite to cause morphological and structural changes.
