Orthodontic Reconstruction Of The Jaw In The Treatment With TMD
The application of non-surgical jaw position reconstruction technology in the treatment of AngleII2S with TMD can effectively improve joint function and occlusal, and verify the potential of condylar reconstruction. A 21-year-old male presented with deep anterior overbite and bilateral joint clicking for 1 year. Clinical examination revealed Class II Division 2 deep overbite, bilateral distal molar relationships, reduced posterior condylar space, flattened condylar bone wear (lateral radiograph: skeletal Class II, retroclined maxillary incisors, average vertical dimension). Occlusal reconstruction(Smartee S8-SGHB)was used to advance the mandible, stabilize bilateral joints, and achieve maxillary incisor labial root torque for decompensation. Post-treatment outcomes included improved facial profile, stable occlusal relationships, radiographically confirmed centered condylar positions, and significant bone deposition. The prevalence of temporomandibular joint disorder in patients with AngleII2S is relatively high. The traditional treatment plan is orthodontic orthognathic surgery after stabilizing the bilateral temporomandibular joint, or masking treatment of dental movement. The mandibular position device (S8-SGHB) provides a new idea for the diagnosis and treatment of adult AngleII2S. By repositioning the mandibular position, in order to coordinate the relationship between the condylar process, the joint disc, and the joint fossa, and at the same time induce adaptive modification of the condylar process, effectively improving the symptoms of joint disorders in such patients.
