Ten year follow up Of Non Extraction Orthodontic Treatment In Class Twin Patients

This case report presents a 10-year follow-up of the orthodontic treatment process for dental crowding and midline deviation in twin sisters. The twin sisters, both 10 years old, complained of crowded teeth and midline deviation. After clinical and radiographic examinations, they were diagnosed with Class I crowded dentition and midline deviation. The patients began treatment at the age of 12 years and 3 months, and the total treatment duration was 13 months, using the MBT straight-wire system. Through archwire expansion and the advantage of growth and development, the patients’ teeth were neatly arranged, and the problems of crowded teeth and midline deviation were effectively solved after the treatment This case demonstrates the effectiveness of non-extraction orthodontics combined with dental arch expansion in treating Class I dental crowding and midline deviation. The curative effects for the twin sisters were significant, and their similar genetic makeup provided a new perspective on orthodontic treatment. The similarity in their genotype might contribute to the similarities in their dental development, occlusion patterns, and dental issues, resulting in consistent treatment processes and outcomes. This suggests that genetic factors play an important role in tooth alignment, which is beneficial for the development of more precise treatment plans. Non-extraction orthodontics combined with dental arch expansion is effective in improving dental alignment and genetic similarity can provide useful insights for treatment planning
