OPG And Rankl Expression Bone Remodeling After Stichopus Hermanii Application
To analyze the effectiveness of bioactive components in Stichopus hermanii on the expression of osteoprotegerin (OPG) and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand (RANKL) in bone formation after tooth extraction in Cavia cobaya Ethical approval number UH17120901. Twenty-four male Cavia cobaya were divided into four groups, each containing six samples. The animals underwent mandibular incisor extraction and were treated with Stichopus hermanii gel (0.8%, 1.6%, or 3.2%) or without gel application (control), followed by suturing as needed. On day 14, an analysis was conducted to assess OPG and RANKL expression using immunohistochemistry (IHC) The 3.2% gel group exhibited the highest OPG levels, with significant differences observed between the 1.6% and 3.2% concentration groups (p < 0.05). Specifically, the 1.6% concentration showed increased osteoblast activity compared to the 0.8% group after 14 days (p < 0.05). Similarly, RANKL expression analysis indicated that the 3.2% gel group had the lowest RANKL levels compared to the 1.6% and 0.8% groups (p < 0.05). Higher concentrations of Stichopus hermanii gel significantly reduced RANKL expression, indicating decreased osteoclast activity The bioactive components in Stichopus hermanii have been shown to enhance OPG expression, promote osteoblast proliferation, and significantly decrease osteoclast levels through RANKL expression reduction. These findings highlight the potential of Stichopus hermanii as a valuable therapeutic agent for improving bone healing and regeneration
