Effect Of Er: Yag Pulsed Laser-Deposited Hydroxyapatite On Titanium
In this study, we investigated the effects of HAp films formed on titanium surfaces by Er: YAG-PLD on M2 macrophage polarization and peri-implant tissues, both in vitro and in vivo. JIS Class 2 titanium underwent sandblasting as pretreatment. Using an Er: YAG laser with 300 mJ irradiation energy for 10 seconds, α-TCP films were formed on titanium surface. Subsequently, hydrolysis was performed in distilled water at 90°C for 10 hours to form HAp thin films. Untreated titanium was set as the control group. Surface analysis. Macrophage polarization was subsequently assessed by flow and gene expression levels. Screws from both groups were implanted in the femur of SD rats after 8 weeks. Student's t-test was used for statistical analysis, with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that a needle-like crystalline structure was observed. Polarization of M2 macrophages (p=0.018) and the expression levels of various genes (p<0.05), the ALP activity (p<0.05), calcium deposition (p<0.05), and various gene expression levels (p<0 .05) were significantly higher in HAp-Ti. Micro-CT analysis showed significantly higher values of new bone formation in HAp-Ti (p=0.008), new bone extent: p=0.041, bone contact ratio: p=0.018. The results of this study showed that the Er: YAG-PLD method can be used to form HAp on titanium. The formation of new bone in the tissue surrounding the implant both in vitro and in vivo.
