Multidisciplinary Treatment Of Adult Skeletal Crossbite With Clear Aligner
Adult Skeletal Class III Malocclusion with Anterior Crossbite was treated by clear aligner combined with Crown Restoration. Patient: HuangX. Gender: Female. Age: 23.Chief Complaint: Anterior crossbite with congenitally missing lower incisor. Physical Examination:(1)Facial Features: Mid-facial hypoplasia.(2)Dentition: Permanent dentition; 11, 21 teeth defect ; 42 missing teeth.(3)Occlusion: Bilateral molars and canines Class III relationship. Anterior crossbite with midline deviation. Treatment Protocol: Active treatment (T1): Maxillary expansion and upper incisors proclination to align teeth and correct crossbite. Lower Left molar distalization with class III elastics to achieve neutral occlusion and correct midline deviation. Refinement (T2): Adjust space for restorations of 11 and21. Intrude the lower anterior teeth and coordinate the occlusion relationship of posterior teeth. Retention (T3): Crown restorations of 11 and21 followed by removable retainers and follow-ups. Outcomes: Anterior crossbite, midline deviation and concave profile were successfully corrected. Good relationships of bilateral posterior teeth and straight profile were achieved. The patient presented with skeletal Class III malocclusion and missing lower incisor rejected surgical intervention. Comouflage treatment of clear aligners combined with restorative methods was used to precisely achieve good anterior and posterior relationship and facial aesthetics. Complex Class III skeletal discrepancy patient with anterior crossbite can be treated by clear aligners combined with Crown Restoration. The advantages of clear aligners, including precision control, highly predictability and aesthetics can offer a better way to treat multidisciplinary cases.
