Efficacy And Safety Of PCCP Mineralizing Desensitizer On Dentin Hypersensitivity

This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of polyelectrolyte calcium complex pre-precursor (PCCP) mineralizing desensitizer on dentin hypersensitivity. This was a 3-month single-blind (blinded to the examiner) exploratory clinical trial approved by the Research Ethics Committee. A total of 10 patients with dentin hypersensitivity were selected as research subjects and treated with PCCP mineralizing desensitizer. A visual analog scale (VAS) was used to assess the tooth sensitivity response after tactile stimuli, air blast stimuli and cold stimuli in the 3-month follow-up sessions. Participants’ subjective perception of tooth sensitivity in daily life were also evaluated using the VAS score. Safety evaluation was assessed immediately after intervention and at each visit. Compared with the baseline values, the VAS scores of tactile stimuli, air blast stimuli and cold stimuli 3 months after intervention significantly decreased (P<0.05). For the subjective perception, participants reported a significant reduction in tooth sensitivity during their daily life (P<0.05). Two mild whitening and roughness of the gingival margin appeared and resolved without sequelae within 24 hours. The present results showed that PCCP mineralizing desensitizer is safe and effective in reducing dentin hypersensitivity over three months.
