A Controlled Study Of Individualized Bone-Anchored Maxillary Protraction

To explore the effect of personalized titanium plate Bone-anchored maxillary protraction (BAMP) on the maxillofacial structure of adolescents with skeletal Class III malocclusion. A total of 10 patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion were selected as the treatment group (TG) treated by individualized BAMP. 10 patients were selected as control group 1 (CG1) for facemask traction. 13 patients were selected as control group 2 (CG2) for natural observation. The baseline and interval length of the three groups matched. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences between the treatment group and the two control groups. Compared with CG1, there was a statistically significant difference in the change of the Mandibular plane angle (-1.07±0.87° in TG, 1.43±1.95° in CG1), Articular angle (-0.64±1.79° in TG, 1.88±4.07° in CG1), Lower Gonial angle (-0.25±1.51° in TG, 1.37±1.14° in CG1, P<0.05). Compared with CG2, there was a statistically significant difference in the change of the Saddle angle (2.06±1.77° in TG, -0.35±3.81° in CG2), Gonial angle (-2.84±1.57° in TG, 1.80±4.76° in CG2, P<0.05). Personalized titanium plate BAMP treatment can improve the sagittal relationship of the jaw. The vertical changes and mandibular orthopedics brought about by this method are more favorable than those of facemask traction, and its effect on high-angle patients is better.
