Radiologic Parameters Of Human Dental Hard Tissues Over Eleven Centuries
The analysis of the features in the canal-root system structure and the thickness of dental hard tissues of people from different centuries. A total of 180 teeth were examined using cone-beam computed tomography, from which the volume was calculated using the formula for calculating volumes of truncated cones with bases in sections: 6-12 sections in each tooth were evaluated depending on the number of roots. Pyrson's correlation coefficient, Student's t-criteriа were calculated. The obtained data was analyzed using GraphPad Prism 8. A statistically reliable linear dependence and high significance between the indicators of the width of dental hard tissues and volume of endodontic system was found (Pyrson’s correlation coefficient = 0,695). There was a high dependence between endodontic system volume and enamel thickness of the tooth neck (Pyrson’s correlation coefficient = 0,723). There is a statistically significant difference in the thickness of the enamel of the maxillary premolars: people from the 20th century have thicker enamel compared to those from the 10th century (P < 0,0001). The external morphological features and dimensions of the teeth are constant for 1000 years, while hard tissues thickness, the pulp chamber volume and the diameter of the root canals are variable and are in linear relation to each other. Evolutionary changes of teeth morphological features occur wavelike and correlate with each other.
