A Case Of Tooth Root Replacement Resorption
This case is a root replacement resorption and involvement to the pulp cavity, due to the lower root canal is not patency and the prognosis is not good, we took palliative treatment. The neck of the left lower posterior tooth has become black for half a year, the tooth has no hot and cold discomfort, denies spontaneous pain and night pain, and has not undergone any diagnosis and treatment. The cervical region of tooth 34 buccal teeth exhibits a dark discoloration and a hard texture upon probing. Subgingival exploration reveals exposure to the pulp chamber. Probing (±), cold Test(-), and no significant tooth mobility is observed. We diagnosed the tooth as root replacement resorption after flap exploration and repaired it with bioceramic material. In this case, the prognosis was poor due to the obstruction of the lower segment of the root canal and the high absorption. After communicating with the patient, bioceramic materials were used to seal the pulp cavity perforation and glass ionomerization was used for palliative treatment. During replacement root absorption, the cementum and dentin on the surface of the root are gradually replaced by bone tissue. When the pulp cavity is involved, root canal treatment should be performed and bioceramic materials should be used to repair the absorbed defect to try to retain the tooth. Symptomatic treatment includes root canal treatment, apical surgery, etc., and the use of bioceramic materials to repair the absorption defect. However, these treatments will not slow down the rate of alternative absorption.
