Inclination Of The Maxillary Anterior And Posterior Occlusal Planes

Aim or purpose: To investigate the CBCT imaging manifestations of the Maxillary Anterior and Posterior Occlusal Planes with Skeletal Class I and Class II Normodivergent Malocclusion Materials and methods: This study has been reviewed and approved by the institutional ethics committee. Among the 1865 patients from January 2023 to December 2023, 37 adolescent patients with skeletal Class I Normodivergent Malocclusion(17 males, 20 females, average age 13.4 years) and 37 patients with skeletal Class II Normodivergent Malocclusion (15 males, 22 females, average age 13.2 years) were selected. The data were statistically analyzed using independent-sample t test. Results: There were significant differences in the inclination of the upper anterior and posterior occlusal Planes between the two groups (P<0.01), and the total mandibular angle, lower mandibular angle, and mandibular plane angle also differed significantly (P<0.05). In both groups, the inclination of the upper anterior and posterior occlusal Planes were positively correlated with the lower facial height and mandibular plane angle (P<0.05). The upper anterior and posterior occlusal Planes were negatively correlated with SNA angle and SNB angle. Conclusions: The inclination of the upper anterior and posterior occlusal Planes are related to the sagittal skeletal pattern and are positively correlated with the mandibular plane angle and lower facial height; in the skeletal Class II group, the anterior occlusal Planes is correlated with the sagittal skeletal pattern.
