Modified Free Gingival Graft For Peri-Implant Keratinized Mucosa
This study investigates the impact of keratinized mucosa width on peri-implant soft and hard tissues by collecting relevant case data and observing clinical parameters. Additionally, it evaluates the clinical efficacy of the modified free gingival graft (MFGG) in improving peri-implant health. This study collected clinical case data from patients who underwent modified free gingival grafting (MFGG) versus no grafting in posterior implant areas, aiming to investigate the impact of keratinized mucosa width on peri-implant health and evaluate the clinical efficacy of MFGG with buccal flap repositioning fixation in improving peri-implant health. The group receiving modified free gingival grafting demonstrated significantly improved clinical parameters, including: Reduced modified plaque index (mPLI) Lower modified sulcus bleeding index (mSBI) Decreased marginal bone loss (MBL) with: A marked reduction in peri-implant disease prevalence 100% surgical success rate 1.Keratinized mucosa width is associated with the health of peri-implant soft and hard tissues, and sites with adequate keratinized mucosa exhibit a lower incidence of peri-implant diseases. 2.In sites with deficient keratinized mucosa width, surgical augmentation of keratinized mucosa can effectively prevent the development of peri-implant diseases, ameliorate soft tissue inflammation, and mitigate marginal bone loss. 3.The modified free gingival graft with buccal flap repositioning fixation procedure for increasing keratinized mucosa width around dental implants enhances graft survival and surgical success rates, while minimizing postoperative reactions and simplifying surgical technique.
