The Efficacy Of Protraction Treatment On Insufficient Maxillary Development Youth
The effect of maxillary protraction appliance in the treatment of skeletal Class III malocclusion with maxillary insufficient in the late growth and development period was evaluated by assessing the changes of relevant indicators, in order to provide reference for the clinical diagnosis and treatment plan design of such patients. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of patients with maxillary insufficient and skeletal Class III malocclusion who received maxillary protraction facemask treatment in the orthodontic department of our hospital from 2015 to 2024. A total of 579 cases that met the inclusion criteria were selected. The lateral cephalograms of the patients before treatment (T1), after treatment (T2), and at the end of treatment (T3) were imported into Dolphin software to measure various indicators for each patient. The measurement data were statistically analyzed using SPSS software. For patients with Class III malocclusion in the late growth and development stage and accompanied by maxillary insufficient, after receiving maxillary protraction mask treatment, the SNA angle and ANB angle of some patients increased to varying degrees, while the APDI index decreased to varying degrees. All patients established intermaxillary Class I occlusion and normal overbite and overjet of anterior teeth at the end of treatment. Follow-up examination showed that the treatment effect was stable. The treatment of maxillary protraction mask is effective for skeletal Class III malocclusion with maxillary insufficient in the late stage of growth and development. The degree of improvement is related to various factors of the patients.
