Clinical Application Of Locator Attachment In Mandibular Complete Denture Restoration
The Locator attachment system for implant-supported overdentures combines endosseous implant technology with precision attachment mechanisms, offering a reliable solution for edentulous or partially edentulous patients. An 81-year-old female patient presented with a severely atrophic mandibular ridge and retained teeth 33, 34, 43 exhibiting Grade III mobility. After comprehensive evaluation, a mandibular implant-supported overdenture with Locator attachments was planned. After completing the examination, scheduled surgery can be performed. Under local anesthesia, teeth 33, 34, and 43 were extracted, and at the same time, two implants were implanted in teeth 33 and 43, along with bone powder and guided regeneration membrane. After 4 months, the CBCT showed good osseointegration around the implant, completing the second phase of repair. The advantages of using Locator attachment for implant supported dentures: 1.compared to traditional full dentures, locator attachments provide more durable and stable retention. 2. Surgical trauma is relatively minor. 3.Compared to planting fixed dentures, it is easier to restore a coordinated and stable occlusal relationship. 4.Denture maintenance can restore retention by replacing the gasket, with a low proportion of re lining. For edentulous patients with mandibular alveolar ridge atrophy, Locator attachment implant supported dentures are an excellent choice, which balances functionality and aesthetics and has a good restoration effect.
