Digital Post-Core Models Via Drill-Adapted Scan-Posts
This study aimed to establish an in vitro digital model for anterior post-core crown restorations using drill-adapted scan-post technology, exploring the feasibility of fully digital restorative workflows. A standardized extracted anterior tooth (Ethics Approval: Y20240128) was prepared for post-core restoration. Drill-adapted scan-posts (3Shape™, 3Shape A/S) combined with intraoral scanning captured post-space data. CAD/CAM software (3Shape™, 3Shape A/S) was used to design and mill a fiber-reinforced resin post-core (Post™, OYA). Key steps included scan-post data registration, 3D post-space reconstruction, and post-core fabrication, focusing on validating the technical workflow for in vitro model establishment. An in vitro digital model for anterior post-core crowns was successfully established. The fiber-reinforced post-core demonstrated passive fit (radiographic confirmation) and clinically acceptable marginal adaptation. All procedural steps (scanning, design, milling) were reproducible. This study validated the feasibility of drill-adapted scan-post technology for constructing in vitro digital post-core crown models, providing an experimental foundation for standardizing fully digital workflows. Future research should optimize system adaptability to broaden clinical applications.
