Prediction Of Suitable Lip Support With Nasolabial Angle Edentulous Patients

The present investigation aims to investigate the correlation between lip fullness and lip support and to explore a virtual prediction method for suitable lip support in Chinese edentulous patients A series of diagnostic complete dentures with varying amounts of lip support were fabricated and 3D facial scanning was used in the present study to explore the correlation between nasolabial angle and lip support. In addition, the quantitative correlation between lip support change and the change of upper lip fullness was studied. Pearson’s correlation test was carried out. The visual sensitivity threshold of dentists to the change of upper lip fullness was also studied. The results demonstrated that there was a positive linear correlation between the initial nasolabial angle and the "incisal edge angle" corresponding to the suitable lip support. The linear regression equation was Y=1.29X-113.35(°). The change of upper lip fullness: the change of lip support was about 1:2. When the upper lip fullness of digital images changed above 1.64 mm, the subjects could recognize it effectively from the frontal observation. When the upper lip fullness of digital images changed above 1.24 mm, the subjects could recognize it effectively from the side observation. These results provide basic data for virtual prediction of suitable lip support and lip fullness in Chinese edentulous patients

Abstract

The present investigation aims to investigate the correlation between lip fullness and lip support and to explore a virtual prediction method for suitable lip support in Chinese edentulous patients A series of diagnostic complete dentures with varying amounts of lip support were fabricated and 3D facial scanning was used in the present study to explore the correlation between nasolabial angle and lip support.
